Javier Goyes

Music producer, sound engineer, and composer based in Berlin.

I left Colombia at the age of 18 to travel and become a professional musician. I ended up in London, where I completed my BA (Hons) degree in Music, Technology, and Innovation at the University of De Montfort, 2005.

During my studies, I applied for an internship at Sony Music Studios in London where (through the joys of happenstance) I met Julio Iglesias. At the time he was recording his album Divorcio, things went well, and I worked on and off for him as an Assistant Sound Engineer for several years after that.

Later I met the renowned English record producer and Roxy Music lead guitarist, Phil Manzanera. This took things to the next level, in both composition and performance.

From 2004 – 2013 I learnt so much under Phil’s mentorship. I went from studio assistant to Chief Sound Engineer rather quickly and was lucky enough to work with many incredibly talented artists, including:

David Gilmour, Andy Mackay, Natasha Khan (Bat for Lashes), Hot Chip, Jerry Meehan (who plays the bass for Robbie Williams), Leszek Możdżer and Guy Pratt (from Pink Floyd).

I’ve also frequently worked together with ¡COMO NO! as a production manager for the annual London Latin Music Festival. From 2004 – 2007 we worked with amazing and diverse artists from Latin America and around the world.

Keen to travel further and expand my skills and hone my craft within music, I felt Berlin would be a great new opportunity and moved there in 2014. Berlin’s rise in the music scene over the last few years is impressive and has been a real inspiration.
